Welcome to my profile. The transition towards a more sustainable and fair world builds on the work of a growing group of passionate and experienced individuals with diverse backgrounds. Below information sheds light on myself.
Current mission
Since January 2017 I work as an independent consultant supporting companies to develop and implement (more) sustainable strategies. I do this in various ways depending on the nature of the project. To mention a few by name: as Executive Advisor for IDH, the Sustainable Trade Initiative, as Chair of the IDH Apparel Life And Building Safety Program (LABS) and Board member of the Apparel Impact Institute (AII). Furthermore as chairman of the Board of the Precious Forest Foundation (PFF) and as Non-Executive Chairman of Meridia Land. And finally by helping individual companies to step up their game in creating true value.
My experience
In the period 2010-2016 I was Director and Executive Board member of the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH, www.idhtrade.org ), a Public Private Partnership agent for sustainable development, that convenes front running businesses and civil society organisations in result oriented coalitions for change. My professional background also includes over twenty years experience in several international management positions at Philips Electronics including as CEO of the Philips Lighting Innovation group (now called Signify), as CEO of Philips Lighting Solutions Europe and as CEO of the Philips (now VDL) Enabling Technologies Group.
Those are the facts, but more importantly, it's about how this build my experience and shaped my vision to fuel positive change for a more sustainable world. A few years ago I formulated my professional mission as follows:
"I want to contribute to a paradigm shift where public sector and business leaders show the way in serving the world by creating real value balancing People, Planet and Profit."
The last 10 years I dedicated my work to this: assessing the facts and initiatives to bend business-as-usual towards a sustainable development, listening to business leaders's challenges in doing so and bring together the right stakeholders around specific challenges to ensure maximum impact.
